Earlier this morning, the National Book Foundation announced the honorees for the prestigious 5 Under 35 Awards for 2008; three of those winners were born outside of the United States.

The honorees were (from left to right in the photo montage) Matthew Eck, author of the novel The Farther Shore; Keith Gessen, n+1 editor and author of All the Sad Young Literary Men; Sana Krasikov, for her short story collection One More Year; Nam Le, author of The Boat; and Fiona Maazel, who wrote Last Last Chance.

All these writers will unite at the official 5 Under 35 celebration on Monday, November 17, an invitation-only event. Dean Wareham will host, and rock critic Chuck Klosterman will spin tunes.
