Nominate Your Favorite Young Editor for an Ashmead Award

By Maryann Yin

Publishing professionals can nominate their favorite young editor for the Ashmead Award, sending one promising editor to the Yale Publishing Course.

The annual award honors editor Lawrence Peel “Larry” Ashmead, a publishing veteran who mentored many young editors. Applications will be accepted until June 15th.

Executive awards committee member and HarperCollins director of rights Brenda Segel explained: “Ideally, applicants will have approximately 4 years’ experience in publishing, but those with more experience will also be considered. We’re asking established publishers and editors in the industry to write to us, on their letterhead, and let us know about young people who are showing a passion and flair for the industry.”
