Nobel Academy Stokes Gore Fan Base’s Pipe Dreams

Rodale and Penguin Press, the publishers of An Inconvenient Truth and The Assault on Reason, respectively, aren’t the only book companies excited by Al Gore‘s Nobel Peace Prize. For Skyhorse Publishing, an indie press launched late last year by Lyons Press founder Tony Lyons, Gore’s victory is a perfect opportunity to promote a collection of the former vice president’s quotations called The World According to Gore: The Incredible Vision of the Man Who Should Be President, which coincidentally published last week. “Three down. One to go. Oscar. Emmy. And now the Nobel Peace Prize,” begins Skyhorse’s press release. “Al Gore can complete the Grand Slam by declaring his candidacy for president.”

I dunno: Oscar, Emmy, Nobel, White House? What about a Grammy first, or a National Book Award, or a MacArthur genius prize? Anyway, I’m afraid I have to agree with Choire Sicha on this one: “Give it up, people!
