precious-dragon-cover.jpgA little over a year ago, we told you about the partnering of Baen Books and Subterranean Press that led to the inclusion of electronic editions of several Subterranean books in Baen’s online Webscription network. Now another independent science fiction publisher, Night Shade Books, has opted in as well. “Baen has successfully led the industry into the future with its DRM-free electronic publishing program,” said Night Shade editor-in-chief Jeremy Lassen in a press release announcing the move. “This canny insight into the e-book market is just one of the many reasons Night Shade has chosen to partner with Baen for the launch of its e-book line.” The house’s first offerings include the first three books in Liz Williams‘s popular “Detective Inspector Chen” series of supernatural police procedurals set in a futuristic Singapore, as well as works by Harry Turtledove, Walter Jon Williams (no relation), Glen Cook, and S.M. Stirling.
