New York Center for Independent Publishing ‘On Hiatus’

The New York Center for Independent Publishing is currently “on hiatus” following interim director Leah Schnelbach’s departure earlier this year.

The NYCIP was founded in 1984, providing services and organizing educational events for the independent press community. According to a Publishers Weekly article about the center, Karin Taylor had served as the organization’s director for two decades until 2009. NYCIP’s parent organization is the General Society of Mechanics and Tradesmen.

The article reported: “[T]he NYCIP Web site has been reduced to a small info page, and there has been no information from NYCIP on the future of the many programs, conferences, and publishing events it sponsors.”
