Motoko’s Back in the Saddle Again

By Neal

When Motoko Rich‘s byline appeared in the NYT February for the first time since her maternity leave, we were glad to see her, and we’re just as thrilled now she’s back in full force, with a story in yesterday’s arts section about the $1.25 million Grand Central is spending on a book about Dewey Readmore Books, a stray cat that was adopted by an Iowa library after being found in the overnight book drop one winter morning. (As the librarians told the Sioux City Journal last year, “We didn’t know if someone abandoned him or if a Good Samaritan found him on the street and shoved him in the book drop to get him out of the cold.”) It’s particularly fun to have seen Rich in yesterday’s paper because it’s exactly a year and three days since her very first dispatch on the publishing beat.
