Missouri Library Defers Decision on “Porn” Comics

Last night, the board for the Marshall Public Library met to make a final decision about those “pornographic” graphic novels that’ve caused such a fuss. A bulletin at Newsarama reports that the board decided to form a committee to draft a formal policy on the library’s acquisition of new books, and that the books in question—Fun Home by Alison Bechdel and Blankets by Craig Thompson—will be kept off the shelves until such time as a policy is in place and then library officials can determine whether the books meet the policy’s standards. “The process of making the new policy could take months,” elaborated Marshall News reporter Zach Sims, when I contacted him by email to thank him for a mention of the ‘Cat in one of his articles about the controversy.
