Michael Lewis Sued for Defamation

Harding Advisory president Wing Chau has sued author Michael Lewis, alleging that defamatory statements were made about him in Lewis’ The Big Short: Inside the Doomsday Machine.

According to Bloomberg, the lawsuit “seeks unspecified damages.” Chau named two other defendants in the lawsuit: FrontPoint Partners managing director Steven Eisman and Lewis’ publishing company, W.W. Norton. Eisman acted as a source of information for the nonfiction book.

Here’s more from the article: “Chau, a manager of collateralized debt obligations, according to a complaint filed Feb. 25 in Manhattan federal court, claims the book unfairly casts him as one of the ‘villains’ responsible for the 2008 financial collapse. ”

Lewis published his first book, Liar’s Poker in 1989. He has since gone on to release twelve more books. The Big Short spent 28 weeks on the New York Times bestseller list.
