Lendle eBook Lending Service Reportedly Revoked API Access by Amazon

By Jason Boog

The eBook lending connection service Lendle has been cut off by Amazon. The company connected Kindle users who wished to take advantage of Amazon’s digital book lending service.

Lendle tweeted the news this afternoon: “Amazon has revoked Lendle’s API access. This is why the site is down. It’s sad and unfortunate that Amazon is shutting down Lending sites … According to Amazon, Lendle does not ‘serve the principal purpose of driving sales of products and services on the Amazon site.'”

Since the shutdown, Lendle has been retweeting tributes from happy customers around the world. We’ve collected a few of those tweets below. (Via FutureBook)

Jeremiah Andrick wrote: “i bought at least 2 books because of lendle… sad.”

Andrew Cohen wrote: “Wow! Amazon just killed @lendleapp and my desire to own a Kindle.”

Jonathan Steckbeck wrote: “with Amazon’s decision, maybe I’ll buy more books from iBooks, or just go back to reading Project Gutenberg books.”
