Learn Book Sculpture in Free Workshop

By Jason Boog

Ever wish that you could decorate your house with books? At a free workshop in New York City, you can learn how to make book sculptures and display your literary love around the house.

On May 16th, artist and author Lisa Occhipint will share secrets of books sculpture at Housing Works Bookstore in New York City–promoting her new book, The Repurposed Library. Above, we’ve including a photo of her Bursting Book art.

Here’s more about the event: “Often using no more than a craft knife, glue, and a little ingenuity, Occhipinti demonstrates how ‘orphaned’ books can become home décor accessories, such as wreaths and vases, as well as functional items, such as shelves, storage boxes, and clocks. This event is free, but $20 buys you a copy of Lisa’s new book, an old book to make art from, instructions and use of craft supplies. Guests of all ages are welcome.”
