The announcement was made yesterday to the L.A. Times newsroom. In the paper’s article about the move, Assistant Managing Editor of Features Alice Short noted that Ulin will “continue to work with the editors of the Book Review and be a guiding light for the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books.”

Ulin has a new book out in November, The Lost Art of Reading, which grew out of an essay he wrote for the paper last August.
