Katherine Paterson Inks Deal With Candlewick Press

Katherine Paterson (GalleyCat)Katherine Paterson has signed a deal with Candlewick Press. The two-time Newbery Medal winner (pictured, via) plans to write a new middle grade novel with a story that takes place in Cuba.

Karen Lotz, the president, negotiated this deal with Allison Cohen, a literary agent from the Gersh Agency. The publication date has been set for Spring 2018.

Here’s more from the press release: “Paterson’s books have received all of the major honors in children’s literature, including not only the Newbery Medal and the National Book Award, but also the Hans Christian Andersen Medal and the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award. A major film adaptation of The Great Gilly Hopkins, starring Kathy Bates, Glenn Close, Octavia Spencer, and Sophie Nélisse, debuted in the US on October 7, 2016.”
