After accidentally throwing away his wife’s personal copy of Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret, Brooklyn resident Lenny Lasek is thrilled that the author came to the rescue and replaced the lost book.
Lasek put up posters around Brooklyn asking for the book back after accidentally leaving it in a free box. Today.com has the scoop:
I accidentally gave this book away on Saturday July 25th in a box on the corner of Green & Franklin Streets in Greenpoint,” he wrote on the poster seen throughout Brooklyn. “The book is extremely important to my wife. It was a keepsake from her mother and is irreplaceable. On the inside cover is a note that reads ‘Christmas 1991.’ If you happened to pick up this book can you please get in touch with me.”
The plea came to Blume’s attention who then sent a brand new signed copy to Katie Ligon, Lasek’s wife. Blume tweeted a photo of the wife with the new book on Twitter account.
