Jim DeMint Writes Book About His Role In Tea Party

South Carolina senator and Tea Party leader Jim DeMint has a new book out this week from Christian publisher B&H Publishing Group called The Great American Awakening.

In the book, the politician –who is known for trying to ban openly gay people from teaching in public schools– tells the story of how the Tea Party and his role in its formation. “My goal is to expose the ‘Washington Establishment’ as a powerful system of inertia that protects the status quo,” writes DeMint in the introduction to the book.

The book chronicles the Tea Party’s growth as a reaction to the 2008 presidential election and how the party shaped the Republican majority win during the mid-term elections of 2010.
