iPad Cometh; Amazon Disclaims; HarperStudio Closes: Weekend Reading

By Jason Boog

It’s been an eventful weekend for the publishing industry. Today was “iPadurday,” the release date for a new eReader and tablet computer. In the video embedded above, eBookNewser unpacked a shiny new Apple iPad.

This morning, we visited the iPad line at the Apple Store in New York City, finding out what prices these new readers expected for an eBook–answers ranged from 99 cents to $100.

In the same line, three Amazon Kindle users explained why they were switching to iPad and the iBooks store. Meanwhile, Amazon added a new disclaimer to many eBooks.

The event drew so much attention that even mediabistro.com’s TVNewser blog stopped by the Apple Store to see what all the fuss was about.

Finally, the news broke yesterday that HarperCollins will close the innovative HarperStudio imprint.
