I Owe OJ’s Lawyer Another Apology

By Neal

When the truth about If I Did It became widely known last week, I admit that my initial reaction was to cynically refer back to the initial denials by O.J. Simpson’s attorney: “Wonder if Yale Galanter is going to live up to the vow he made to reporters last month: ‘If anyone comes out with such a book, I’ll go on every talk show and call it crap.’ I’m not holding my breath…”

Well, I apologized for assuming he’d been lying about the book deal, when it turns out he never knew what Simpson was planning, and now I’m going to order up a second helping of crow, because Galanter has publicly criticized the project. It’s not quite a talk show appearance, but in speaking with Newsweek, he says he’s “pissed” about the “blood money” deal. “I definitely would not have approved this,” he tells the reporters. “I wouldn’t have done it for a gazillion dollars.”
