Harper Lee Letters Up For Auction

“You ask me where Maycomb County is, where the Landing is—the only answer I can give you is that Maycomb County is in my heart and the Landing is in my imagination,” wrote author Harper Lee in a letter penned two months after her landmark novel To Kill a Mockingbird was released. “If, in ‘To Kill a Mockingbird,’ I persuaded you that those places are real, that means I have succeeded in my profession, which is writing fiction,” she continues in the letter.

Nate D. Sanders is currently auctioning off this handwritten letter. The 1960 letter is expected to fetch 800 West Olympic Blvd # 235, Los Angeles, CA, 90015$8,000-10,000. Also up for bid is a letter that Lee wrote to a fan in 1993. This letter auction is expected to bring in $5,000-7,000.
