51eHRvtC+YL._SX331_BO1,204,203,200_Cult director Harmony Korine is working on a film adaptation of Alissa Nutting‘s controversial novel Tampa.

The book is about a 26-year-old middle school teacher in Florida that seduces her 14-year-old student. Korine revealed his plans to turn the story into a book during a Q&A last night at the Miami Beach Cinematheque. The Playlist has the scoop:

The 2013 book caused no shortage of scandal, with the story explicitly detailing a teacher’s journey in seducing her 14-year-old student. It’s pretty charged material, so much so that Slate editor Dan Kois wrote, quite prophetically it would seem, “someone hire Harmony Korine to make the movie, ASAP.”
