Mafia Author Roberto Saviano Accused of Plagiarism

Roberto Saviano, the author of the bestselling book about the mafia in Naples, has accused of plagiarism, in his latest book, ZeroZeroZero.

The author shrugged off the charges to The Daily Beast, suggesting that the mafia is out to get him. Still an Italian court has ruled in favor of lesser known journalists who made these accusations. The Daily Beast has the scoop:

Analyzing random paragraphs from ZeroZeroZero, as described below, I frequently found examples of research and language pilfered from other journalists, not encased in quotation marks, and not cited. Of course, one cannot footnote plagiarism (and there are no footnotes in ZeroZeroZero).
