Gilmore Trades PR Desk for Writing Space

jennifer-gilmore.jpgCongratulations to Jennifer Gilmore, who’s ending her tenure as the director of publicity at Harcourt today after five and a half years with the company so she can concentrate full-time on her fiction. We met for coffee earlier this week and chatted about how the decision frees her to write the followup to last year’s NYTBR “notable” novel, Golden Country. Getting up at 5:30 in the morning to write a few pages before heading to the office is fine when you’ve already got a good-sized story to work with, she explained, but she wanted the time and space to focus exclusively on creating a new story. We wish her luck—and to Michelle Blankenship as well, as she takes over the Harcourt publicity machine on Monday morning. One of the books they’ll be promoting this fall: the paperback edition of Golden Country.
