Get Your Pride On, Book-Style

LGBT Pride Month celebrations kick into high gear this weekend, and naturally there’s a literary component. Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m., the New York Public Library’s main branch plays host to an array of contemporary queer voices with a panel that includes Kate Bornstein, Cheryl Clarke, and Bernard Cooper. Go on; you’ve heard the mermaids singing at Coney Island a dozen times already, culture yourself up for a change!

Among what we hope are many similarly themed events over the next few days, StillJohn.com has listings for three events at the Chelsea B&N (no surprise there!). Tonight the store welcomes comics artists Abby Denson and Tim Fish; Monday evening features a pairing of memoirists Edwin John Wintle and Martin Moran; Tuesday it’s William Eskridge and Darren Spedale, the co-authors of Gay Marriage: For Better or For Worse?. (Quick answer: better.)
