George R.R. Martin, Jaycee Lee Dugard & Maggie Stiefvater Debut on Indie Bestseller List

By Maryann Yin

We’ve collected the hardcover books debuting on Indiebound’s Indie Bestseller List for the week ending July 3, 2011–a sneak peek at the books everybody will be talking about next month.

(Debuted at #1) A Dance With Dragons by George R.R. Martin: “From all corners, bitter conflicts reignite, intimate betrayals are perpetrated, and a grand cast of outlaws and priests, soldiers and skinchangers, nobles and slaves, will face seemingly insurmountable obstacles. Some will fail, others will grow in the strength of darkness. But in a time of rising restlessness, the tides of destiny and politics will lead inevitably to the greatest dance of all.” (July 2011)

(Debuted at #3) A Stolen Life: A Memoir by Jaycee Dugard: “In the summer of 1991 I was a normal kid. I did normal things. I had friends and a mother who loved me. I was just like you. Until the day my life was stolen. For eighteen years I was a prisoner. I was an object for someone to use and abuse. For eighteen years I was not allowed to speak my own name. I became a mother and was forced to be a sister. For eighteen years I survived an impossible situation. On August 26, 2009, I took my name back. My name is Jaycee Lee Dugard. I don’t think of myself as a victim. I survived.” (July 2011)

(Debuted at #6) Forever (The Wolves of Mercy Falls series) by Maggie Stiefvater: “In Forever, the stakes are even higher than before. Wolves are being hunted. Lives are being threatened. And love is harder and harder to hold onto as death comes closing in.” (July 2011)
