Game of Thrones Co-Creators Confirm That The Series Will Conclude in 2 Seasons

Game of Thrones 200David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, the co-creators and showrunners behind Game of Thrones, confirmed that the HBO series will be comprised of eight seasons. Six seasons (a total of 60 episodes) have already been aired.

In an interview with Deadline, Benioff explained: “From pretty close to the beginning, we talked about doing this in 70-75 hours, and that’s what we’ll end up with. Call it 73 for now.”

Earlier this year, rumors were being circulated that seasons seven and eight will feature less than 10 episodes each. Esquire Magazine reports that Peter DinklageEmilia ClarkeKit Harington, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, and Lena Headey have signed contracts to stay on for the final two seasons. The deals do not guarantee that these actors’ characters will survive until the series finale.
