FlashForward TV Adaptation Canceled by ABC

cousffsmtp.jpgEntertainment Weekly is reporting that ABC has canceled the science fiction drama FlashForward. The television show was adapted from a novel by the same name from Hugo Award-winning science fiction writer Robert J. Sawyer.

Some had hoped the literary adaptation would replace the twisty and literary pleasures of ABC’s soon-to-be-concluded series, Lost. Check it out: “In less surprising news, the Alphabet net has also canceled Better Off Ted, Scrubs, and FlashForward. An ABC spokesperson had no comment.”

In an interview with GalleyCat earlier this year, Sawyer commented: “There’s no doubt that we did not get the ratings that we wanted, even for the premiere. We were hoping to be as big as Lost‘s premiere. Every year it gets harder and harder to be as big as a show that premiered five years ago. Lost‘s numbers were abysmal compared to classic Star Trek episodes from 40 years ago. The audience has fragmented more and more, people are listening to Podcasts and things like that–Internet radio instead of watching TV.” (Via Laura Miller)
