Ernest Hemingway Adds Humor Writer to His Resume, Posthumously

By Maryann Yin

upsidedownh.jpgFamed Nobel Prize-winning writer “Ernest Hemingway” launched the Papa Funny blog to begin his new career as a humor writer. The anonymous writer behind this this project hopes to create “the leading humor site by a fictional dead fiction writer.”

Papa Funny wrote GalleyCat, asking: “do you have six toes?”–referring to the six-toed cat once owned by the dead novelist. Who is the person behind this fictional persona? This GalleyCat correspondent suggests Charles Bicht, the winner of this year’s Hemingway Look-A-Like Contest.

Posting an upside down picture of Hemingway, Papa Funny listed four simple goals: “To attempt 100 kinds of humor, a list that is still growing and clearly not thought out well. To be mentioned on national television (as ‘Papa Funny,’ he says, because people talk about ‘Ernest Hemingway’ all the live-long day). To have a restaurant entree named for him (preferably a sandwich but there’s some wiggle room here). And to somehow get the attention of Tina Fey. Because that makes sense.”
