Emma Donoghue’s Room Selected as Book Movement Member Pick of the Year

By Jason Boog

Emma Donoghue’s Booker shortlisted novel, Room, has been picked as BookMovement’s Member Pick of the Year.

BookMovement is a book club resource site counting more than 26,000 registered bookclubs as members and collecting more than 12,000 reading group guides. If you want to read about books inside the world of Room, check out our Room Bookshelf post.

Pauline Hubert explained the pick in an email to subscribers: “This month is a little different–it is our Member Pick of the Year. Now, while it is clear that The Help was the #1 book club pick of the year, and loved by so many book clubs, there is another book which seems to have taken book clubs by storm. I have never seen a book rise so quickly to the #1 club pick, especially as it was published only 10 weeks ago, and that mercurial rise is why I have selected ROOM by Emma Donoghue as our Member Pick of the Year.” (Via M.
