FishbowlNY informs us of the battle over Buddy Holly‘s memory, as lawyers for the dead rock star’s widow, Maria Elena Holly, are suing to block the publication of Whatever Happened to Peggy Sue?, a memoir by Peggy Sue Herron, who says she’s the inspiration for the ’50s hit. Lawyers for the Widow Holly maintain that the book will generate “confusion and tarnishment of Buddy Holly’s name and Ms. Holly’s reputation,” with the Buddy Holly trademarks and other intellectual property rights seemingly taking precedence.
