Elijah Wood (pictured, via) has landed the role of Todd on Dirk Gently. Variety reports that BBC America plans to shoot an 8-part television series.
The story for this adaptation project comes from two Douglas Adams novels: Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency and The Long Dark Tea-Time of the Soul. Wood’s character serves as an assistant to the titular sleuth. The premiere episode will air in Fall 2016.

He always attempts to solve matters with the fewest steps possible; despite being a compassionate, sweet, smarter-than-average man with biting wit, Todd often finds himself at the intersection of morally gray crossroads.
