Can Iron Man pull off Arthur Conan Doyle’s deductive detective?
A few pictures of Robert Downey Jr. playing Sherlock Holmes have surfaced at Variety. Fans of Holmes can see the Iron Man star in a dapper jacket, consulting with British director (and Madonna hubby) Guy Ritchie. The film has a tentative release of 2010, cementing Holmes’ reputation as the most filmed detective–he’s appeared in television and movies more than 200 times, according to Variety.
This is a big year for the most famous detective. Recently, another film was announced, possibly producing dueling Sherlocks at the multiplex:
“With Downey aboard, the film will go into production before a comedy that just coalesced at Columbia Pictures, with Sacha Baron Cohen playing Holmes, and Will Ferrell playing his crime-fighting partner Dr. Watson.”
