Douglas Coupland to Pen Column for VICE

By Dianna Dilworth

Canadian novelist and artist Douglas Coupland, best known for his 1991 novel Generation X: Tales for an Accelerated Culture, has joined VICE as a contributing editor.

The writer will pen an ongoing column for the publication.

“A few months ago I saw Shane [Smith] talk at Google Zeitgeist in London and was impressed with the way he thinks and where he sees the future going,” commented Coupland. “Right now you’re the new kids on the block but soon enough you’ll be running the block. That’s an exciting time in the life of any news or media company… a lot more freedom and you get to make your own rules as you go along. I’m thrilled to do the same.”

His first column will look at the Greek economic crisis “through a financial and psychological lens.”
