shakespeare304David Oyelowo and Daniel Craig have signed on to star in an off-Broadway revival of Othello. In this rendition of William Shakespeare’s tragic play, Oyelowo will take on the titular role and Craig will play the villainous Iago.

Here’s more from The New York Times: “The play will be staged by New York Theater Workshop, a prestigious but small nonprofit that plans to present the work in a 199-seat theater for a limited run in the fall of 2016 (the theater has not yet announced the production’s dates or duration). The starry cast was assembled and offered to New York Theater Workshop by one of New York’s most in-demand directors, Sam Gold, who this year won the Tony Award as best director for his work on the musical Fun Home, and who is also known for his fruitful and frequent collaboration with the Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Annie Baker.”

According to The Guardian, Oyelowo has recently been seen on the silver screen starring in the critically acclaimed films Selma and The Butler. Craig has become well-known for being the latest actor to step into the shoes of master spy James Bond. Click here to download a free digital copy of Othello. (via The Gothamist)
