Curious George Learns About Ramadan in New Book

“It’s the first day of Ramadan, and George is celebrating with his friend Kareem and his family,” explains the book’s description. “George helps Kareem with his first fast and joins in the evening celebration of tasting treats and enjoying a special meal.”

It’s Ramadan Curious George is written by Hena Khan and is based on the characters made popular by H.A. Rey. “The idea of working with a character that is so well known and beloved was a little intimidating at first,” Khan told The NY Daily News, “but those feelings quickly gave way to the thrill of of introducing George to new concepts and traditions that I hold dear, and to know that he would in turn bring them to other children and their parents.”

The book is available on May 3.
