Court Drops Jesse Ventura Award Against Chris Kyle’s Estate

The estate of the late author Chris Kyle will not have to pay Jesse Ventura $1.8 million.

A federal appeals court threw out the 2014 jury decision, which would have awarded Ventura $1.3 million for unjust enrichment and $500,000 for defamation for the bestseller American Sniper.

The Dallas Morning News has the scoop:

The 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals rejected the jury’s 2014 award of $500,000 for defamation and $1.3 million for unjust enrichment against Kyle’s estate. Kyle, a former Navy SEAL who was the deadliest sniper in U.S. military history with 160 confirmed kills, died in 2013.

The defamation part of the lawsuit has been sent back to court for a new trial.
