Coolman to Hyperion, Greko to Macmillan

mariecoolman-amigreko.jpgMarie Coolman (left), the director of publicity and marketing at Hudson Street Press and Plume at the Penguin Group, has accepted a new position as the executive director of publicity at Hyperion Publishing, where, as the press release puts it, she’ll be “crafting the strategic messaging for all Hyperion and VOICE imprints.” Sounds like a good fit to us: One of Coolman’s biggest books this year was Oprah Book Club selection A New Earth, which ought to be good preparation for handling a hit like The Last Lecture… In the announcement, Coolman offers a hint as to her likely strategy: “As content providers, we need to meet readers where they go for recommendations,” she says, “whether that is a friend, a media outlet, a bookseller, a blog, a social network or a virtual world.”

⇒After about a year and a half as marketing director at Folio Literary Management, Ami Greko (right) is returning to the corporate publishing fold, this time as a digital marketing manager at Macmillan. We just found out about this on Twitter, so details are a bit sketchy, but we’re under the impression that this is an expansion of Macmillan’s existing online marketing efforts.
