To celebrate the release of the Allen Ginsberg biopic, Howl, City Lights has sponsored a book trailer contest for the book that inspired the film.

All trailers must be completed by the film’s September 24th release. Winners of the contest will receive the 4-color Howl 2’x3′ movie poster, a Howl T-shirt, a “Howl if you heart City Lights” bumper sticker, and a copy of City Lights’ book Howl on Trial.

Here are the contest instructions: “Create your own personal book trailer for Allen Ginsberg’s notorious epic poem Howl no longer than 90 seconds. Email us a link to your trailer to contest@citylights.com. For examples of book trailers, check out the 2010 Moby Awards.”

The upcoming film stars James Franco as Ginsberg. The film’s plot centers around the court case Ginsberg faces by the poem. The film’s extended trailer is embedded above.
