Children’s Book Illustrators, Bloggers, Unite Against Sarcoma

By Neal

woodflake.jpgLast year, I told you about Robert’s Snow, a charity auction named in honor of author/illustrator Grace Lin ‘s husband after he was first diagnosed with sarcoma, in which a variety of artists and illustrators paint or otherwise modify wooden snowflakes like the one at left. Robert Mercer died earlier this year, so this will be the first auction conducted in his memory, and dozens of bloggers are spreading the word this month, in advance of the auctions beginning in late November, with each blogger showcasing one of the finished snowflakes. See, for example, Lin’s snowflake at the children’s bookblog In These Pages…

The proceeds will, as in years past, be donated to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute.
