Buy A Drink, Support a Literary Magazine

maria-gagliano-reading.jpgIt was a little over a year ago that we met the editors at Slice, and they’ve been able to put out three issues since then—but the literary magazine is still entirely supported by donations and subscriptions. Which is why, when co-publisher Maria Gagliano (right) leaves her day job in the editorial department at Perigee tonight, she won’t be headed back to her Brooklyn apartment; instead, she’ll be guest bartending at Trinity Pub on the Upper East Side… and the tips she makes between 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. will all go to support Slice. (You can also buy in on a cash raffle for $5; the money will be split between one ticket holder and the magazine.)

If you do head up to Trinity, try to go easy on Gagliano: “I can pour a mean pint of beer,” she says, “but I’ve never been behind a bar before… My good wishes go out to anyone who dares to order a martini, or anything else involving more than two ingredients.”
