The Practical Writer co-editor Therese Eiben thinks she’s spotted a gaffe in today’s Stephen Holden‘s NYT review of Becoming Jane. “Seems to me he has mixed up his Austen archetypes,” she emails, “suggesting that the love interest (a captivating rake with no fortune other than one his rich uncle may provide) inspired Mr. Darcy of Pride and Prejudice rather than Willoughby (a captivating rake with no fortune other than one his rich aunt may provide) from Sense and Sensibility.” Doncha hate when that happens?
