A few months ahead of its August 24th publication date, John Vaillant’s nonfiction book The Tiger: A True Story of Vengeance and Survival is already slated for a high-profile adaptation.
Guillermo Arriaga, the Academy Award-nominated screenwriter of Babel, will write the script. The Wrestler director Darren Aronofsky will produce the film for his company Protozoa Pictures alongside Brad Pitt’s Plan B Entertainment. The film is part of a partnership between Random House Inc.’s Random House Films division and Focus Features.
Here’s more from the release: “[The book] takes place on the Siberian plain, where human development is encroaching on the tigers’ habitat–and one tiger turns on the intruders. With townspeople being tracked and hunted with an almost supernatural power, a conservationist game warden must face down the tiger. It is a fight that only one of them can win.”
