Boy Wizard Causes Big Trouble in Literary China

By Neal

I had noticed the story in yesterday’s NYT by Howard V. French about the counterfeit Harry Potter books flooding China, but I didn’t really do more than skim the story because, to be perfectly honest, I just got possession of the copy of Deathly Hallows that took an extra week to get here from England and then my wife had dibs which was fine because I had a bunch of book reviews to write and, basically, I didn’t want to see any Potter stories because I just want to read the thing cold this weekend. But then James Fallows brought up the Chinese bootlegs on his Atlantic blog, which led to a Shanghai Daily article about a fan-crafted translation making its way online. But that’s it; those are the last Potter stories I’m looking at until Monday!
