Borders Cuts 16 Executive Positions

By Jason Boog

In a massive corporate restructuring, Boarders Group cut six vice president and ten director positions, mostly eliminating jobs at the Ann Arbor headquarters of the company.

Among the eliminated Vice President positions were: Ken Armstrong, the Executive Vice President of U.S. Stores; Susan Harwood, Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer; and Kevin Ertell; Senior Vice President. Fred Boehler, Senior Vice President, Logistics, will be leaving his post voluntarily.

Here’s more from the Borders release: “Other changes at the vice president level include the elimination of the following positions: Vice President, Real Estate; Vice President, Human Resource Services and Vice President, Creative… ‘As we address the immediate priority of getting our company’s financial house in order, one of our goals is to more aggressively reduce annual expenses,” said Borders Group Chief Executive Officer Ron Marshall.'” (Via PW.)
