Bob Shea 200 (GalleyCat)Bob Shea, a picture book creator, has organized a book drive for a young girl who lost all of her books and personal possessions in a house fire. Mashable reports that Shea (pictured, via) met young Heidi during a visit to an elementary school.

Colby Sharp, Heidi’s teacher and a children’s literature blogger, alerted Shea about Heidi’s misfortune. After meeting Heidi, Shea posted requests on Twitter asking his fellow authors and illustrators to send her some books and school supplies. Thanks to Shea’s actions, Heidi now possesses new furniture, hundreds of books, and art supplies.

Here’s more from Sharp’s blog post: “Since Bob’s tweets, I have received emails, texts, tweets, and direct messages asking for more information on how they can help. Book are being sent by friends, strangers, authors, illustrators, publishers, and teachers. Friends have committed to purchasing Heidi a new writing desk and a bookshelf. Mind blown.” (via Good Morning America)
