Blog Sank Teeth into Vampire Book/Film Deal Story

When I posted yesterday about Hollywood’s interest in literary authors, I described a NYT article about Justin Cronin‘s $1.75 million film deal for The Passage, the first book in his forthcoming vampire trilogy, as “a passable game of catch-up” to the Vulture blog’s scoop on the original book deal. What I’d forgotten was that Vulture wrote about the film deal, too, supplementing the basic Variety announcement with details about just who was involved in the bidding that would later appear in the Times story. In fact, Vulture got something right the Times got wrong: The film deal isn’t just for The Passage, but for the entire trilogy.
