Barnes & Noble Reveals New Executive Appointments

Barnes & Noble has revealed two new executive moves.

Jaime Carey, formerly the Chief Operating Officer of Barnes & Noble, has been promoted to President of Development & Restaurant Group. Michael Ladd has been named Vice President, Stores. Both executives will report to the company’s CEO Ron Boire.

In his new position, Carey will be responsible for overseeing real estate development and the company’s newly created Restaurant Group. The company is currently working on four new concept stores which will include new restaurants that offer beer and wine. The stores will open in 2017 in the following locations: Eastchester, NY; Edina, MN; Folsom, CA; and Loudon, VA.

“Jaime’s promotion underscores the importance of having a leader devoted to our new store concepts with a focus on an enhanced restaurant experience,” stated Boire.

Ladd comes to the book retailer from Sears Holding Corporation where he was Senior Vice President, Head of Retail Stores. In his new position, Ladd will head up the company’s entire retail organization.

“Mike is an accomplished leader with a proven track record for driving results,” stated Boire.  “We think he is the perfect addition to our management team given his broad range of retail capabilities.”
