Aussie Bookseller Weighs in on Romantic Times/Blogger Flare-Up

By Neal

When a letter attacking negative bloggers appeared online last week, with several indications that it had been penned by Romantic Times CEO Kathryn Falk, one of the details that may have convinced some readers of its genuineness was the invocation of Australian booksellers Rosemary Potter and Margaret Bell, said to be with Falk at her ranch in Texas and described as “co-signers” of the email. So I figured that gave me an easy way to confirm whether or not this whole thing was real, and I contacted Potter asking what she could tell me about it all. She sent me a copy of a statement she’d already posted on the original blog where “the Falk letter” first ran.

“I would like to confirm that Margaret and I were guests of Kathryn’s at the time the post was made,” Potter wrote. “However we were out sightseeing in Galveston all day and were not aware of what had transpired. Having read the post, we would like to state that for the record that this ‘Rhetoric’ does not represent either Margaret’s or my views.”
