Andy Weir Reveals His Approach to Writing in Reddit AMA

Pacing is important to author Andy Weir, the self-published author whose breakout success with The Martian, led to a book deal with Crown Publishing Book Group and a major motion picture adaptation directed by Ridley Scott and starring Matt Damon.

He revealed this detail in a Reddit AMA, “Ask Me Anything” session this week. The sci-fi author also talked about the book, the film adaptation and his process. Check it out:

I spent about half my time researching. I’m not worried about my work coming under the eye of experts. It’s a work of fiction, and it’s going to have inaccuracies. That’s just how it is. But getting a thumbs up from those experts and hearing them say “It’s more accurate than anything else in the field” is a good feeling.
