Amy Bloom Responds to Her Kindle TV Ad Feature

By Jason Boog

Will an Amazon Kindle ad appearance help a writer sell books? The Me and My Kindle blog interviewed author Amy Bloom about that very question.

Earlier this week, Bloom’s new short story collection, Where the God of Love Hangs Out, starred in the Kindle TV ad emebedded above. In the interview, Bloom noted: “I feel very grateful for whoever it was who said, ‘Hey, how about a page from an Amy Bloom story.'”

When asked if the Kindle plug would increase sales, Bloom replied: “You never know. It probably won’t do me any harm. On the other hand, the other way to look at it is, who cares? I’ve done my job as a writer. I’ve written the best work I know how. And I’m appreciative of the people who read it and care about the work — and that’s pretty much the end of that. Anything else that happens is sometimes nice, and sometimes not so nice, but not really directly relevant.”
