Hey, remember last July, when cartoony illustrations of a female nude painting and a male nude statue derailed a book deal between German author Rotraut Susanne Berner and Boyds Mill Press to bring Berner’s children’s books to the U.S.? Well, Chronicle Books isn’t afraid of a little nudity, so they’ve just announced on their blog that they’ve acquired four Berner books on the seasons that they’ll publish in an omnibus edition in the fall of 2008.
“Children do not care about this kind of nudity,” says Chronicle assistant editor Melissa Manlove. “And the parents with a tendency to hyperventilate can take a deep breath and get over it.”
