Ada Twist Cover (GalleyCat)Ada Twist, Scientist has become the fastest selling picture book of this year. Abrams Books for Young Readers ordered a first printing of 250,000 copies and now, the publishing house is going back to print 100,000 new copies.

This children’s book, written by Andrea Beaty and illustrated by David Roberts, was released on September 6. It serves as a companion to Beaty and Roberts’ previous two collaborative projects: Iggy Peck, Architect (2007) and Rosie Revere, Engineer (2013).

Here’s more from the press release: “Inspired by women thinkers and scientists such as Ada Lovelace and Marie Curie, Ada Twist, Scientist champions the talent of girls and women, and brings welcome diversity to picture books about girls in science with its African American main character. Touching on themes of never giving up and problem solving, Ada learns that her questions might not always lead to answers, but rather to more questions, and that is the heart of the scientific process. The book is the perfect tool to remind both young girls and women that they have the intelligence and perseverance to achieve their dreams.”
