mediabistro.com threw a party at the Bubble Lounge last night to celebrate the publication of Tom Zoellner’s The Heartless Stone, an investigation into the powerful forces driving the world’s diamond trade. Among the partygoers, novelist Alison Pace is flanked by Shaking Her Assets co-authors Robin Epstein and Renée Kaplan, while St. Martin’s publicist Shannon Twomey welcomes former Viking publicist Ami Greko into the Holtzbrinck family (Greko starts a new job at FSG later this week).

zoellner-party2a.jpgAuthors Jami Attenberg and Shari Goldhagen were also there to cheer Zoellner on; Goldhagen will be participating in a Zoellner-led mediabistro.com panel on journalists who run off to write books next month. The room was also full of journalists, including Gothamist food critic Martha Burzynski and her friend Heidi.

zoellner-party3.jpgAfter mediabistro.com education director Carmen Scheidel introduced Zoellner to the crowd, and he thanked us all for coming, I had to make a quick dash up to Serena for Michele Wucker’s party celebrating the release of Lockout, an argument for keeping America’s borders wide open to immigrants for the sake of economic security—and who did I see waiting to get her copy signed but our very own CEO, Laurel Touby? (Observe how, being at somebody else’s party, she isn’t wearing a boa!)
